Hi VIJAYRCHANDRAN

I am an independent advisor here to help

perhaps I am missing something here, but what you have shared in the screenshot looks like current normal and expected behavior.

This is happening when it is running in the background.

I was not using IDM when I got that screenshot. The below screenshot shows how it shows when it is actually open.

I can understand it showing up when I am using the program, but in the earlier screenshot I was not using it.

This started happening recently.

Vijay.

Hi Vijay

When using alt+tab it allows you to switch between all active programs. Even though IDM is running in the background it is still an active process and alt + tab gives you the option to bring up an active Windows for it. You will notice in your first screenshot that the alt + tab option for IDM doesn't give you any preview window details of the IDM application. This is because it is running in the background, so there is no active window from which to generate a preview.

Again, this still seem current normal and expected behavior.

Thanks. The only option is to exit the program to stop this from happening then?

Same thing has been happening to me with my Motherboard's Utility (Gigabyte App Center) for a few years now. It'll show up in the Alt-Tab list even if it's minimized to the taskbar tray. All other apps (Spotify, Malwarebytes, VPN, AMD etc.) will happily work and stay minimized to the taskbar tray and not show up on the Alt-Tab list unless I open it up into a window. I got so annoyed I turned off it's minimize to tray ability and only launch it as needed. It seemed sepcific to that app too, since after 2 clean installs over the years it still does that, so I just dismissed it as poor programming compatability with windows 10 on Gigabyte's part.

To fix this, kill all IDM processes in Task Manager. Then, you may start the program again.

To not make it happen again, you have to disable startup for IDM (either in Task Manager or in the program itself), but make sure you have IDM Integration Module enabled in your browser so that you can still download using IDM.

Had disabled IDM at start up. That seemed to be the only way around this.

It still captures most of the downloads, there are some that it miss but those are small document files. All the large downloads it does without issue, so that is fine by me.

Solution is quite simple than I thought.

1. Open IDM.

2. Click on View in the top menu.

3. Then under "IDM tray icon", select "Don't show". That's it.
